Assessment, Quotation & Authorization

Once we have received your bike, the first step is to complete a full assessment of the damage sustained from the accident or theft. We list all damaged parts, assess them for repair or replacement, attain parts pricing and availability from suppliers, photograph all damage and submit this information as a finalised quotation to your insurance company. This is normally done within 5 business days of receiving the bike, however certain factors can extend this time frame such as sourcing pricing and availability of aftermarket parts, discontinued parts and parts for rare models. Once our quote is received the insurance company will also conduct an assessment and once the quote has been authorised by the assessor we can order the parts and commence the repairs.

Repairs

Your insurance company will notify us at the same time as yourself once the repairs have been authorised. Please note that we can only order the required parts and commence repairs once our quotation has been authorised by your Insurance company. Once the repairs are complete we will call you to arrange a collection time so we can give your bike a final clean before you arrive.

Write-Offs

If it’s determined that the cost of repairs come to more than your motorcycle’s value, or if serious irreparable damage has occurred then your bike will be written off. You’ll be paid out according to your insurance policy and your Insurer will also arrange for your bike to be taken away for salvage. If you wish to keep the bike, either by cancelling your claim or by purchasing it back as salvage please contact your Insurer.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ 1 – WHAT WILL YOU NEED FROM ME?

Keys, claim number, contact details and (if applicable) any information you have about the aftermarket parts on your bike. We will also need to discuss the accident with you.

FAQ 2 – HOW LONG WILL YOU HAVE MY BIKE FOR?

A typical timeframe is:

  • From your bike arriving at our workshop to quote authorisation: 1-2 weeks
  • From parts ordered to arrival: 2-4 weeks (however some parts on backorder, aftermarket or discontinued parts sourced from overseas, Ducati, Aprilia and MV Agusta parts can take longer than this)
  • Paint repairs: 1-3 weeks depending on damage severity, number of parts needing repair and paint complexity.
  • In summary, the average is between 2-6 weeks depending on the number of repairs to be done and parts required.

FAQ 3 – CAN I HAVE A COURTESY VEHICLE WHILE YOU HAVE MY BIKE?

If you were involved in an accident and have been deemed ‘not at fault’ you are entitled to a free courtesy vehicle for the duration of your repairs. Talk to us about arranging this for you.

FAQ 4  – I WANT TO KNOW HOW MY REPAIRS ARE GOING, DO I CALL YOU OR MY INSURANCE COMPANY?

Us! We’re happy to help and provide you with additional updates at anytime so please feel free to contact us to see how your repairs are going.

FAQ 5 – MY BIKE IS RIDEABLE, DOES IT HAVE TO STAY AT YOUR WORKSHOP WHILE YOU’RE WAITING ON THE PARTS FOR IT?

If we’ve assessed your bike and determined that it’s safe to ride, then you are welcome to take it from our workshop and continue to ride it until your parts arrive. Once the parts are in, we’ll call you and book your bike in for repairs.

FAQ 6 – I’M UNABLE TO RIDE MY BIKE, CAN YOU TOW IT BACK TO ME ONCE REPAIRS ARE COMPLETED?

We sure can, however we do need to charge for our tows so it’s always best to check your insurance policy to see if an additional tow back home will be covered by your Insurer or yourself. (Insurance company’s typically cover the tow to us after the accident but not always the tow home once the bike is rideable again). We will also require you to come in and inspect the bike repairs to make sure you’re happy before we can transport it back to you.

FAQ 7 – WHO DO I PAY MY EXCESS TO?

It depends on your Insurer and they’ll let you know – but if you are required to pay it to us it won’t be until collection.

FAQ 8 – I HAVE MY BIKE BACK BUT HAVE A QUESTION OR HAVE NOTICED A PROBLEM. WHAT DO I DO?

Contact us so we can help you! If something doesn’t seem right we definitely want to hear from you so we can correct it. Our reputation matters to us and we want you to be completely satisfied with our repairs.
